Realigning the financial model

As university leaders prepare for Thursday's Board of Regents meeting, WSU President Elizabeth Cantwell is sharing that the proposed budget being presented represents a bold new direction amid the many state, federal and other challenges facing higher education.

"Rather than simply cut or react, we are using this moment to begin a purposeful realignment of WSU's financial model - ensuring we focus our resources on what matters most, live within our means, and create space to invest in the future," she says in a new video message to WSU students, faculty and staff.

The future will require continued courage, collaboration and clarity of purpose.

"This budget is not the end of a process," she adds. "It is the beginning of a transformation."
