The dead bull was discovered by a member of the public on Sellars Creek Road between Blackfoot Reservoir Road and Long Valley Road in Bingham County. The elk was shot from the road multiple times with a centerfire rifle sometime between Sept. 4 and Sept. 5, likely at night.

The elk was left to waste with only its antlers removed.

Known violations related to this case include killing a big game animal with a centerfire rifle during an archery-only season and waste of game.
