WASHINGTON, D.C.-Today, Congressman Pat Harrigan (NC-10) voted to fund the Department of Homeland Security through passage of the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act of 2026, legislation that provides critical resources for border security, counterterrorism operations, disaster response, and the protection of American communities.
"For 17 days, Democrats have stalled funding for the Department of Homeland Security," said Congressman Harrigan. "After successful strikes on Iran and an FBI warning about elevated threats here at home, this is not the moment to play politics with homeland security. Border security, disaster response, counterterrorism, and the protection of our communities are NOT partisan issues."
The legislation funds the men and women on the front lines, from Customs and Border Protection to ICE, TSA, the Coast Guard, and the Secret Service, who work every day to secure our border, stop fentanyl, disrupt terrorist plots, and respond when disaster strikes. Keeping these agencies fully operational is a basic responsibility of Congress, especially at a time of heightened global instability.
"This is a serious moment for our country," Congressman Harrigan continued. "We should be standing united behind our troops abroad and the agents protecting our homeland here at home. I voted to fund DHS and keep America secure. It's time for Democrats to stop the obstruction and do the same."
