Streets Department Announces Construction to Begin on Traffic Calming Around Overbrook Educational Center

Temporary street closures and parking restrictions expected to begin the week of Monday, September 8th, 2025.

PHILADELPHIA - The Streets Department announced today that construction work will begin the week of Monday, September 8, 2025 for the Overbrook Educational Center Project. The project limits include Media Street from 68th Street to 66th Street, Haverford Avenue from 68th Street to 66th Street, and 68th Street from Lansdowne Avenue to Haverford Avenue.

This project includes:

  • Speed cushions
  • Improved traffic signage
  • Upgraded pavement markings
  • New concrete sidewalk bump outs at two intersections: 67th and Media Street and 66th and Media Street

This $1.2 million project is fully federally funded through the Transportation Alternative Set Aside (TASA) program. The construction contract has been awarded to Marino Corporation. The projected completion date is February 2026.

Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted in advance of each scheduled work activity. In the event a vehicle must be relocated please contact the local Police District for more information.

The Streets Department asks everyone traveling near roadwork to slow down, pay attention, and follow all detours and directions.
