On October 29, Fried Frank filed an amicus brief in the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in The Family Planning Association of Maine v. Department of Health and Human Services et al. The brief - filed on behalf of the Maine Medical Association, Maine Academy of Family Physicians, Maine Osteopathic Association and the Maine Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics in support of Maine Family Planning - underscores the critical importance of maintaining access to essential healthcare services for rural and low-income Mainers and highlights the severe consequences that loss of Medicaid funding would have on patients, clinicians and communities across the state.
The full brief is available here.
The Fried Frank pro bono team that prepared the brief included partner Janice Mac Avoy, special counsel Laura Israel Sinrod, pro bono attorney Mindy Johnson and associates Corinne R. Moini, Katherine Borchert, Elizabeth Kruse, Morgan Kurst and Kathryn Sachs.
