AIA Hires Former NASA and Industry Leader Katy Summerlin Baron to Strengthen Policy Communications Efforts

Arlington, Va. -  The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today announced that former NASA communicator Katy Summerlin Baron has joined the organization as Senior Director of Policy Communications.

"Katy's experience working with the press, in industry, on the Hill, and in government - and her ability to connect those audiences - will help us tell the story of a sector essential to America's security, economic strength, and technological leadership," said Eric Fanning, AIA's President and CEO. "We're excited to bring her energy to the team."

Summerlin Baron previously served in communications leadership roles at NASA Headquarters, Maxar Technologies, ROKK Solutions, and the U.S. House of Representatives, directing strategies that advanced major policy priorities, strengthened stakeholder engagement, and supported national space and science initiatives. Summerlin Baron holds a B.A. in Journalism with a minor in Political Science from James Madison University.
