Buckeye police deploy Grappler to stop fleeing driver

BUCKEYE, AZ (February 9, 2026): Buckeye police deployed a Grappler to stop a speeder who refused to pull over. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. on Saturday near Southern Ave. and Johnson Rd. The driver was going about 20 mph over the speed limit when the officer activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. That's when the driver did a U-turn and took off. The officer then deployed a Grappler, a device installed on the front of the police vehicle designed to launch a nylon net that wraps around the suspect vehicle's tire, locking it. The driver was arrested and booked into jail on multiple charges including DUI, unlawful flight, drugs and warrants for vehicle theft and burglary.
