451-Bed Student Housing Community Marks Milestone in Comprehensive Redevelopment Program to Transform Campus Housing
Moscow, ID (October 26, 2026) - Gilbane and Rocky Mountain Companies, along with University of Idaho (U of I), celebrated the ribbon cutting of Vandal Village, a graduate and family housing complex on U of I's Moscow campus. This milestone marks significant progress in the transformative partnership to expand access to modern, affordable housing that enhances the student experience.
"Vandal Village underscores our continued dedication to delivering high-quality student housing communities designed for student success," said Geoff Eisenacher, Executive Development Director, Gilbane Development. "We're proud to have partnered with the University of Idaho to advance their campus housing goals and deliver modern apartments that give graduate students and student families a place that supports how they actually live and study."
Located at 1010 Deakin Ave, the 200,000-square-foot complex encompasses 240 units, offering two- to four-bedroom plans. Designed to meet a range of housing needs, the development encompasses 451 total beds, including 232 for graduate students and 219 for married and parenting students. Apartments are fully furnished and include wireless internet, an in-apartment washer and dryer, a full-size kitchen with dishwasher and air conditioning. The community is also pet-friendly. Residents benefit from a common community center that offers shared spaces for studying, collaboration and social engagement.
"Our responsibility is to plan for the university's future while delivering improvements students can use today. Vandal Village puts that investment into practice, providing furnished apartments for graduate students and families as part of a broader effort to improve campus housing," said Brian Foisy, vice president for the Division of Finance and Administration.
The initiative is part of a $135-million renovation and redevelopment of South Hill and Elmwood Apartments, the Wallace Residence Center and the Theophilus Residence Building.
Joining Jeffrey Resetco, Senior Development Director at Gilbane, and Scott Green, President at University of Idaho, at the ribbon cutting ceremony were Blaine Eckles, Vice Provost and Dean of Student Affairs at University of Idaho, and Abagail Ikari, student at University of Idaho.
The project team included Gilbane Development and Rocky Mountain Companies as the master developer team, Lydig as the contractor and Integrus and Design Collective as architects. Rocky Mountain Companies is an Idaho-based firm and Integrus has a decades-long history of working with the University.
