CO 115 El Paso County Resurfacing Project

El Paso County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and contract partner, Schmidt Construction Company, completed resurfacing along Colorado Highway 115 in El Paso County. The project improved six miles of CO 115 from Nelson Boulevard, at Fort Carson Gate 1, to Brookside Street, south of Interstate 25 in Colorado Springs.

"This busy section of CO 115 is essential to local residents and commuters," said CDOT Region Transportation Director Shane Ferguson. "Motorists and pedestrians can now expect significantly smoother pavement and enhanced safety throughout the project zone."

Work included asphalt overlay paving, guardrail replacement, pedestrian signal updates and curb ramp replacement to comply with Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines. These improvements ensure all current standards are met on Americans with Disabilities ramps, and will enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.

The new asphalt will extend the life of the road surface, offering a safer, more comfortable driving experience.

• Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
• Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
• Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
• Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
• Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
• Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
• Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
• Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
• Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
• Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
• Be patient!
