APMA Submits Comments on Proposed Medicaid Payment Policies

APMA submitted comments to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in response to the proposed rule, Medicaid Program; Medicaid Managed Care State Directed Payments and Medicaid Fee-for-Service Targeted Medicaid Practitioner Payments.

In its comments, APMA expressed concern that the proposed payment limits could reduce states' flexibility to use State Directed Payments (SDPs) and targeted Medicaid practitioner payments to support physician participation and patient access to care. APMA also urged CMS to include podiatric physicians alongside other physicians (MD/DOs) when designating provider classes.

APMA will continue to advocate for policies that preserve access to medically necessary foot and ankle care for Medicaid beneficiaries and parity for podiatric physicians.
