Local man sentenced to 33 months in federal prison for threatening the President and federal law enforcement officers

FORT WORTH, Texas - United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould announced that a Springtown, Texas, man who repeatedly issued violent threats against the President of the United States and federal immigration officers was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison.

On June 9, 2025, Francisco Jesus Mena, 37, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a federal official. U.S. Chief District Judge Reed O'Connor imposed the sentence today.

"Threats against the President and federal officers are crimes that my office takes very seriously," said U.S. Attorney Ryan Raybould. "We will continue to prosecute individuals like the defendant who seek to intimidate, impede or retaliate against federal law enforcement for performing vital national security and immigration related duties."

"This sentence makes clear that conveying violent online threats is a serious criminal offense with substantial consequences, said FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge R. Joseph Rothrock. "The FBI remains committed to ensuring that individuals who exploit digital platforms to intimidate, coerce, or instill fear are held accountable."

"The U.S. Secret Service investigates all threats against our protectees," said Special Agent in Charge of the U.S. Secret Service Dallas Field Office Christina Foley. "Threats against the President will not be tolerated. We continue to work alongside our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to investigate these threats and will hold those who threaten to harm any of our protectees accountable."

According to court documents, between May 13 and May 25, 2025, Mena made numerous threats against President Trump and ICE agents in a series of online messages posted to social media. The defendant repeatedly threatened to assault and murder the President, writing variations of "KILL TRUMP" across multiple dates and platforms. He also issued threats directed at federal law enforcement officers stating that if ICE agents came to his residence, he would "respond with a gunfight," and claiming he had previously stabbed an ICE agent and "would love to do this again."

On several occasions, Mena claimed that ICE personnel would be targeted next and encouraged violence against federal officers and white people, stating that individuals with "blue eyes and white skin will get chopped," and offering payment or solicitation to harm the President. He further stated he did not need money to "take out Trump" and requested access to a sniper.

The FBI and the U.S. Secret Service conducted the investigation with assistance from local law enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Justin Beck and Ethan Womble from the Fort Worth Division prosecuted the case.
