Friday, October 30, 2026

Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announces that a jury found Chad Grant, 47, of Lewiston, guilty of one count of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree (Class D felony). Jurors rendered their decision early today after approximately 10 minutes of deliberation following a two-day trial, convicting the defendant of the sole count of the indictment.

Between on or about September 22, 2007, and on or about October 15, 2013, the defendant engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a victim who was less than 13-years-old. The crimes occurred at a location in the Town of Cheektowaga. The defendant was known to the victim.

Grant faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced before Erie County Court Judge Suzanne Maxwell Barnes on Thursday, February 18, 2027, at 2:00 p.m. He was held without bail while pending sentence. A temporary order of protection issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.

DA Keane commends Detective Mark Fatta of the Cheektowaga Police Department and ECDA victim advocate Nicole Haffa for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Stephen C. Papia of the Special Victims Unit and Assistant District Attorney Jenelle A. Senske of the Justice Courts Bureau.
