On 8-11 December, Robert Kupiecki, undersecretary of state at the MFA and national security advisor to the prime minister, visited Washington, D.C. His agenda included attending the Aspen Security Forum as well as holding several meetings with members of the US administration.
During a conversation on the future of European security at the Aspen Security Forum, Deputy Minister Kupiecki underlined that Europe was a prime example of the US foreign policy success, made possible by the US' consistent engagement in strengthening Europe's security following World War II. In this context, Poland stands out as the epitome of the said success-a country that understands the history and today's challenges as well as adopts a responsible outlook on the future. The diplomat also emphasised the Polish government is a firm advocate for close transatlantic ties.
Undersecretary of State Kupiecki underlined the need to properly define threats to security, both those existing in the short-term, in connection with the violent war Russia is waging against Ukraine, and in the long-term, marked by anticipating Russia's future plans. Threats to Euro-Atlantic security ought to be faced with transatlantic unity.
'Together we are stronger. The potentials of the United States and Europe taken together are unmatched by any competitor,' said Deputy Minister Kupiecki while discussing the challenges that Europe and the United States are facing together, such as the China-Russia alliance, which reinforces Russia's imperial ambitions.
Additionally, Deputy Minister Kupiecki met with members of the US administration representing the Department of State and the United States National Security Council. These meetings were joined by Bogdan Klich, chargé d'affaires a.i. of the Republic of Poland in the United States of America, who also met with Christopher Landau, Deputy Secretary of State-the second-ranking official at the US Department of State.
