The Portland Police Bureau is investigating the death of an infant who died in May 2025 and today is announcing murder charges against his parent.
On May 4, 2025, detectives assigned to PPB's Child Abuse Team were notified that an infant was at a local hospital with life-threatening injuries that were suspicious in nature. The baby, Arlo Darnielle-Arroyo, died on May 8. He was 15 days old.
The Medical Examiner determined Arlo died of homicide by blunt force trauma.
Following Arlo's death, the case was transferred to PPB's Homicide Unit.
In November, after a months-long investigation, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office presented evidence to a Grand Jury that returned an indictment for the following: Murder in the Second Degree (three counts), Assault in the First Degree, Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree (two counts), Attempted Coercion (two counts), and Witness Tampering.
On Monday, December 8, 2025, the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Felipe Arroyo Jr, 38, of Portland. He was subsequently transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center and lodged on the aforementioned charges.
