The Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, María Teresa Mercado Pérez, and the Undersecretary of Industry and Commerce at the Ministry of Economy, Vidal Llerenas Morales, visited Beijing, China, from February 8 to 10 to deepen the bilateral political and economic dialogue.
During the visit, they met with senior officials at China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce to continue the high-level bilateral dialogue and strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
In their meeting with Vice Minister of Commerce and International Trade Representative of China Li Chenggang, they discussed ways to promote more balanced bilateral trade flows and to strengthen supply chains that contribute to the development of Mexico's domestic industry. In their discussion with Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Cai Wei, they examined the political relationship in order to strengthen bilateral dialogue and contacts and expand cooperation in areas such as technological innovation, public health, and smart water management.
Mexico and China established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2013, and this year marks the 54th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, established on February 14, 1972.
