INCIDENT SUMMARY: According to Sheriff Jeffrey J. Murphy, the Washington County Sheriff's Office arrested Salvatore C. Niro, age 34 of Hampton, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony and Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree (Intentional disobedience of a mandate of a Court), a Class A Misdemeanor.

The arrest was made after an investigation conducted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office determined that Niro was in possession of a firearm, a handgun, while having multiple Court Orders barring him from possessing any firearm.

Niro was released on an Appearance Ticket and is due to be arraigned in the Town of Hampton Court at a later date.
