Author Tanner Mitchell to Host Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and Book Signing at the Grand Opening at 10AM on Wednesday, May 20^th, 2026

Prosper, TX - May 13^th, 2026 -Barnes & Noble is thrilled to announce the opening of its long-awaited bookstore in Prosper, TX on Wednesday, May 20^th.

The new Barnes & Noble will offer over 20,000 square feet of books, together with an extensive selection of toys, games, magazines, music and movies. The store will have a large Barnes & Noble Café. The new bookstore is located in a newly constructed building in The Gates of Prosper shopping center at 1191 Gates Parkway Suite # 300, Prosper, TX 75078.

Prosper Barnes & Noble bookstore will officially open to the public at 10AM Central on Wednesday the 20^th, with local author Tanner Mitchell cutting the ribbon and signing copies of his helpful gardening guide, For the Love of Houseplants: Caring for & Keeping Plants with Confidence.

The new Prosper store is one of two Barnes & Noble bookstores to open on May 20^th, joining another in Aurora, OH. Barnes & Noble has opened five stores in as many weeks, working toward opening 60 stores in 2026. Barnes & Noble now boasts over 700 bookstores, having been below 600 stores as recently as 2023.

Barnes & Noble Premium and Rewards Members will earn double stamps on all purchases made between May 20^th and 24^th. Customers who are not yet Members are encouraged to sign up and start earning stamps and rewards right away.

Everyone who visits the new Prosper Barnes & Noble during the grand opening will have access to exclusive deals, like $50 off any NOOK device. Customers can also save 40% on all DVD, Blu-ray, and 4k Ultra HD movies.

Barnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful. The bookseller is experiencing strong sales in its existing stores and has been opening many new stores after more than a decade of declining store numbers. The bookseller opened over 60 new stores in 2025 and is on track to add another 60 in 2026. In Texas, it has opened 14 new bookstores since November 2023 and expects to open another 6 , including Prosper, during this year.

Store Manager, Stephanie Trout, has been a bookseller for more than 30 years and also opened the Barnes & Noble in Richardson, TX in 2023.
