This two-day conference-organized jointly by the IMF, Bocconi University, and the Bank of Italy-offers a platform to discuss the evolving fiscal challenges confronting countries under heightened uncertainty, marked by elevated debt levels, tighter financial conditions, rising macroeconomic risks, and competing demands on public resources. The conference, part of Fiscal Affair's Department's Sovereign Debt Network Project, brings together leading scholars and senior policymakers to explore a range of fiscal issues of import to the IMF membership, such as the transmission of fiscal policy under uncertainty, the role of expectations and beliefs in shaping fiscal outcomes, interactions between fiscal and monetary policy, the implications of elevated public debt for inflation and financial stability, and the design and macroeconomic effects of redistribution policies.
A recording of the conference will be made available on this page following the event.
