Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Aaron Strickland

PROJECT NAME: LAS 35997

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The proposed route primarily follows existing trails on the north and south side of the Chatanika River, approximately 21 air miles west of the Elliot Highway bridge.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:
Summer Route: Sections 3 and 6 of F002N004W
Sections 34, 33, 32, and 31 of F003N004W

Winter Route: Sections 8, 9, 16, 17, 20, 29, 28, 33 of F002N004W

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Mining, Land and Water (DMLW) has received a Land Use Permit (LUP) application from Aaron Strickland for the summer and winter cross country travel of a dozer (~25,000 lbs), excavator (~35,000 lbs), and farm tractor (~5,000 lbs). The equipment would be moved between private parcels on the Chatanika River in the summer and transported to and from Murphy Dome Road in the winter. The proposed routes primarily follow the existing trail easement (ADL 417096) along high ridgelines in the area. The purpose of the travel is to improve ground on private property. A total of seven round trips is proposed with each trip measuring approximately 14 miles. Up to 30 gallons of fuel would be transported to support the equipment.

REQUESTED TERM: 5 years

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity.
