Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald Condemns Antisemitic Activity in Oakland County

"Our office is in close communication with law enforcement as they continue their investigation into the antisemitic flyers distributed in Berkley, Huntington Woods, and Farmington. We recognize our Jewish community's heightened safety concerns in the aftermath of the Temple Israel preschool attack and other troubling incidents. We are committed to balancing the community's right to safety with the right to legal free speech, even for the most reprehensible ideas.

"Regardless of the legal implications, I feel compelled to speak out against these hateful lies. It was not long ago that such disgusting rhetoric was relegated to the darkest fringes of society. Anti-religious rhetoric, especially against our Jewish community, has become normalized by political interests seeking to divide us as Americans. An attack on any one faith is an attack on all of us and our right to worship as we see fit.

"Rather than allowing ourselves to be divided, we must stand together in unity with a clear message: Religious hate will not be tolerated in Oakland County. We will protect our neighbors' right to practice their faith without fear or intimidation."

- Karen D. McDonald; Oakland County Prosecutor
