BANGKA -- To support tourist areas within its operational regions, PT Timah, through its North Bangka Area Division in collaboration with the Rambak Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis), carried out a shade tree planting activity in the Batu Tunggal tourist area, Rambak Village, Bangka Regency.
This tree planting activity is part of a series of events commemorating World Environment Day, which PT Timah held across various company operational areas.
Together with the community and Rambak Pokdarwis, PT Timah planted trees in the Batu Tunggal Beach area as a show of support for developing a green, leafy, and comfortable tourist area for visitors.
The Ketapang Kencana tree is known as a good shade tree for coastal areas, while coconut trees hold both ecological and economic value for the local residents.
In addition to planting trees, PT Timah also organized a beach clean-up to collect plastic waste. During the activity, 32.9 kg of plastic waste was collected, weighed on-site, and handed over to the Waste Bank managed by the Bangka Regency Environmental Office.
PT Timah's Department Head of Corporate Communication, Anggi Siahaan, stated that the company collaborates with various community groups to carry out environmental conservation efforts and support the tourism sector.
"This tree planting initiative is a form of our commitment to environmental conservation and a collaboration to educate visitors about the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental sustainability. We hope that Batu Tunggal Beach remains clean, green, and continues to grow as a top tourist destination in Bangka," said Anggi.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bangka Regency Environmental Office, Ismir Rachmaddinianto, who attended the event, appreciated PT Timah's collaborative efforts in protecting the ecosystem and supporting the national mission to reduce plastic pollution and environmental degradation.
He expressed hope that the trees planted along the beach would be properly cared for so they could grow well and bring long-term benefits. He also encouraged Pokdarwis to take on future waste management responsibilities.
"Greening efforts like this play an important role in creating a healthier and more sustainable environment. Going forward, I hope Pokdarwis can maintain the planted trees so they can bring continuous benefits," he said.
PT Timah's environmental conservation and greening efforts in this new area are expected to help boost the local community's economy.
