Together We Grow: P1 Welcomes This Year's Summer Interns

Over the past few years, P1 has worked to create an even more robust internship program for our next generation of construction management and support leaders.

This year, P1 has a diverse group of interns joining us across mechanical, electrical, technologies, safety, and support departments.

P1 Project Manager Hayley Leonard has taken over leadership of the intern program in 2026. Once a P1 intern herself, Hayley is committed to helping interns get the right kind of experiences during their time at P1.

"I offered to help Sarah [Garcia] last year with the program, and she welcomed me in and showed me the ropes of everything she coordinated for the program - which is a lot!"

"I wanted to get more involved not only because it impacted me positively when I was an intern, but because of how many full-time P1 employees we hire from our interns."

Hayley credits Sarah and her team with how well the program has been built over the past few years.

"My goal is to continue to maintain the standard that has already been set by Sarah, and also encourage other P1 associates to become involved and aware," she said

"It takes a village, and I want to give the interns plenty of opportunity to make the most of their summers."

On that note, Hayley encourages all the interns to take initiative, making sure they are getting the most out of their time at P1.

"My advice is to ask questions and be involved," she said.

"If you need more to do or want more opportunities, reach out and ask! Most of the doors P1 has opened for me came from taking initiative and asking for those opportunities."

"Everyone at P1 wants to help you succeed and we are always willing to help."

In addition to working with their respective supervisors and teams, the interns also have a full summer of events including fab shop tours, jobsite visits, visits and tours with industry partners and vendors, and fun activities like Gameshow Battle, KC Monarchs game, KC Current game, and more.

They will also get in-house learning sessions on business etiquette, MEP 101, safety and other topics critical to our industry.
