Memorial Healthcare System Opens Red Road ER in Miramar, Bringing Hospital-Level Emergency Care Closer to Home

Memorial Healthcare System announces the opening of Memorial Healthcare System Red Road ER in Miramar, expanding access to hospital-level emergency care for residents of South Broward and Northwest Miami-Dade.

The new freestanding emergency room, located at 11300 Miramar Parkway, officially opens to the public on June 16, 2026. The state-of-the-art, 16,800-square-foot facility was designed to provide rapid, high-quality emergency care close to home for adults and children while remaining fully connected to Memorial Healthcare System's network of hospitals, specialists and follow-up care services.

Unlike urgent care centers, Red Road ER is a licensed emergency department equipped to provide advanced diagnostics, trauma-level stabilization and hospital-level emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

The facility features 13 private examination rooms, dedicated pediatric treatment capabilities, a trauma and resuscitation room, advanced imaging technology including CT scans, ultrasound and digital X-rays, as well as on-site laboratory services designed to support fast, efficient emergency evaluation and treatment.

As one of the nation's largest public healthcare systems, Memorial Healthcare System continues investing in infrastructure designed to enhance access and meet the evolving healthcare needs of South Florida communities.

South Broward and Northwest Miami-Dade continue to experience rapid residential and commercial growth, with population projections expected to increase by approximately 10% through 2029, driving increased demand for emergency services across the region.

Last year alone, Memorial emergency departments treated more than 421,000 emergency patients, and that number continues to grow. Together with Memorial's expanded Douglas Road emergency facility opening in July, Red Road ER is expected to help serve more than 32,850 patients annually while helping ease congestion at nearby emergency departments.

"This high-acuity emergency department brings hospital-level emergency care into the community in a more accessible and efficient way," said Felicia Turnley, CEO of Memorial Hospital Pembroke, who will oversee this ER. "It strengthens our ability to care for patients across South Broward and Northwest Miami-Dade while supporting the broader Memorial Healthcare System network."

As part of Memorial Healthcare System, the Memorial Red Road ER connects patients directly to Memorial's network of hospitals, specialists, primary care providers, urgent care centers, and follow-up services, helping ensure coordinated care from emergency treatment through recovery. Patients requiring surgery, specialized procedures or hospital admission can be seamlessly transferred within Memorial Healthcare System.

"Freestanding emergency rooms are designed to treat a wide range of urgent and serious conditions, from chest pain and abdominal pain to fractures, respiratory illnesses, infections and pediatric emergencies," said Louis Jane, MD, emergency medical director of the new facility. "With advanced imaging, on-site laboratory services and experienced emergency teams, we can quickly evaluate and stabilize patients while determining the next steps for care."

The $34.8 million facility will create clinical and administrative positions and represents a significant investment in expanding emergency care access across the region.

Memorial Healthcare System Red Road ER will provide emergency care for children, adults and seniors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
