Louise Depadt tabbed WAC Women’s Golfer of the Week for second consecutive week

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - Tarleton State sophomore was named the WAC Women's Golfer of the Week for the second-straight week, the conference office announced on Thursday afternoon.

Depadt earns the honor for the second consecutive week, the second WAC golfer to accomplish the feat. She joins ACU's Ryan Honea as the only two to have earned at least two weekly awards this season. The sophomore earned the honor last week of the first time in her career after taking home the title at the Fresno State Classic, shooting under par in each round.

This week Depadt posted a fifth-place finish at Trinity Forest Golf Course in the Veritex Bank Collegiate. The Luanger, France, native upped her streak of consecutive rounds with an even or under-par score to eight with a pair of under-par rounds in the first 36 holes. Depadt posted a 69 and 70 in the first two rounds to enter the final round five strokes under par. She finished with a 75 on the final round to finish at two under par.

Depadt placed fifth in a loaded field, behind four nationally ranked golfers. The sophomore led these competitors after the first 36 holes. Four national top 35 teams competed at the meet led by Houston, Oklahoma State, UCF and SMU.

In her rookie season in Stephenville, Depadt has been one of the team's top golfers all year. She has posted eight top 10 finishes in the team's nine different individual scoring events, with seven top five finishes. Depadt has shot even or under par in five of her outings. Her best individual round score of a four-under par 68 came at the first invitational of the fall, the UTA Maverick Classic. She also posted her best 54-hole score at that event tying the program-low with a 209. The sophomore has shot even or under par in 16 of her 24 collegiate rounds.

Tarleton State will be in search of their first women's golf conference title next week in Litchfield Park, Arizona. The Texans will compete in the 54-hole, three-day event at the Wigwam Golf Course, opening on Monday and closing on Wednesday. The top finishing team and top individuals will be fighting for spots at NCAA Regional Championships. Last year the Texans posted their best finish at the event held in Payson, Ariz., earning a fifth-place team finish. secured the highest individual place by a Texan, coming in second overall.
