Somalia Strengthens Maritime Security by Joining 15 International Conventions and Protocols

EUCAP Somalia congratulates Somalia with recently acceding to 15 International Conventions and Protocols on maritime security. These international agreements and legal instruments range from maritime safety and navigation to marine environmental protection and oil pollution compensation.

Over the years, the Mission significantly contributed to the country's developments on maritime security, including through numerous workshops, trainings, coordination meetings, and seminars. It praises Somalia's political and security institutions for taking progressive ownership and developing concerted action toward building and maintaining effective maritime security capacities.

In close cooperation with its highly valued Somali and international partners, including the International Maritime Organization and the European Union-funded maritime capacity-building initiative EU CRIMARIO, EUCAP Somalia remains committed to help build and further strengthen Somalia's maritime capacities.
