Airbnb.org, a nonprofit founded by Airbnb to provide emergency housing in times of crisis, is prepared to help residents displaced by flooding and damaging winds as Hurricane Isaias makes landfall late Friday.
Airbnb.org is partnering with Inform Florida and Florida's 211 network, along with additional community partners across the Gulf Coast region, to provide free emergency housing to residents under mandatory evacuation orders. Stays are free for guests and funded by Airbnb.org and the generosity of donors.
Airbnb.org is also working with All Hands & Hearts to provide free emergency housing for their first responders as they stage in the southeastern United States while preparing to deploy to support relief efforts.
"Our preparation begins long before a disaster occurs. We build relationships ahead of time with local nonprofits and governments, so that if families need emergency housing during a storm, we can help them find it quickly," said Christoph Gorder, Executive Director of Airbnb.org. "We also provide stays to first responders through our partner organizations. Their work is hard, and we know a comfortable place to call home can help them recharge for the next day."
How it works
Airbnb.org's local partners will identify residents in need of temporary housing and refer them to Airbnb.org, which provides credits to book a nearby Airbnb stay that meets their needs-often close to their workplaces, schools, or support networks.
In Florida, residents living in areas under mandatory evacuation orders can request support by contacting 211, which will determine eligibility. Once the storm makes landfall and impacts are assessed, Airbnb.org and its partners will provide details about additional assistance.
How to help
Anyone interested in supporting those impacted by the hurricane can help by donating to Airbnb.org. 100 percent of donations go directly toward connecting people in crisis with emergency housing. If you're an Airbnb host, you can sign up to provide discounted Airbnb.org stays.
Airbnb.org along the Gulf Coast
Since its founding in 2020, Airbnb.org has provided more than 43,000 nights of free emergency housing in the region, including during hurricanes Helene, Milton and Debby in 2024.
When families need a place to stay during a crisis, Airbnb.org helps them find one quickly. In 2026, about 60 percent of Airbnb.org check-ins in the United States happened within 24 hours of booking.
Airbnb.org helps families and pets stay together. In the US in 2026, more than one in three stays were households of four or more, and more than 20 percent included a pet.
