The City of Tampa Solid Waste Department is ringing in the New Year with a fresh and innovative service for residents and businesses. The department now offers a Cart Cleaning Service as another way to help keep Tampa's neighborhoods clean and healthy.
"This new year is all about fresh beginnings," said Larry Washington, Director of the Solid Waste Department. "We're kicking off 2026 with a service that reflects our commitment to cleanliness, convenience, and community care. Clean carts mean cleaner neighborhoods, fewer odors, and a better quality of life for everyone."
Residential and commercial customers can now request professional cleaning of up to two carts for a $40. The service is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., on one of the customer's regularly scheduled collection days.
The Cart Cleaning Service is part of Mayor Jane Castor's T3 Initiative Transforming Tampa's Tomorrow, which focuses on strengthening resident services and building a more resilient and sustainable city.
"Today marks another step forward in our mission to make Tampa a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient city for all," said Mayor Jane Castor. "This service helps reduce environmental hazards and ensures our most vulnerable residents have equal access to this kind of service. It's a small change that will make a big impact."
Cart cleaning can be scheduled as frequently as needed, and is available for City of Tampa issued 95-gallon and 65-gallon carts. For more information or to request service, please contact Solid Waste Customer Service at (813) 274-8811.
Customers will receive a confirmation call the morning of their scheduled cleaning.
