ST. JOSEPH, Mo.- Michels Road & Stone, contracted by the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 between Route 116 (Exit 40) at Lathrop and Shoal Creek near the intersection of S. Route 69 (Exit 48) near Cameron yesterday, Monday, Aug. 24.
Crews have completed paving the southbound lanes. The northbound lanes are restricted to the driving lane (right lane) while crews remove crossovers and traffic control. The southbound passing lane is restricted to the driving lane (right lane) so crews can also remove crossovers.
Traffic Impacts: The northbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane, and the southbound lanes will be narrowed to one lane near the crossovers. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place.
The rehabilitation of the northbound lanes was completed in 2025 along with the widening and rehabilitation of U.S. Route 69.
All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by September 2026.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
