Walberg Recognizes National Hire a Veteran Day

Ahead of National Hire a Veteran Day on July 25, Congressman Walberg (MI-05) released the following statement recognizing the strength, leadership, and expertise veterans bring to our communities and workplaces.

"Our nation's veterans have sacrificed so much for our freedoms, and we must ensure they have every opportunity to succeed when transitioning into civilian life," said Rep. Walberg. "On this upcoming National Hire a Veteran Day, I encourage employers across our district to consider the unmatched value veterans bring to their organizations. When we hire veterans, we strengthen our communities, our economy, and our future."

Rep. Walberg has supported multiple pieces of legislation that have passed the House this Congress and would invest in the future success of our nation's veterans.

• Veterans Readiness and Employment Improvement Act: strengthens the VA's Veterans Readiness and Employment (VR&E) program, which places veterans with counselors who assist them in pursuing education, employment, independent living, and entrepreneurship opportunities.
• Veterans Education and Technical Skills (VETS) Opportunity Act: updates the GI Bill to provide veterans with broader access to high-quality in-person and hybrid independent study programs, connecting them to careers in critical fields and strengthening the American workforce.

Congressman Walberg's office also participates in the Green & Gold Congressional Aide Program, which was established to create employment opportunities for veterans within the House of Representatives. This program provides veterans with invaluable experience and helps broaden their career opportunities.
