Chinese Consul General in Perth Fu Lihua Attends the Chung Wah Association Chinese New Year Ball

On February 28, 2026, Consul General Fu Lihua attended the Chung Wah Association Chinese New Year Ball and delivered a speech. Mr. Daniel Pastorelli, representative of Premier Cook and Deputy Premier Saffioti, Mr. Basi Zempilas MLA, Leader of Opposition, Mr. Sam Lim MP, Member for Tangney, Mr. Andy Yuan, President of Chung Wah Association, state Parliament member, city mayors and councilors, and other distinguished guests of around 300 guests were present.

Consul General Fu extended New Year greetings to the guests present, and stated that the Chinese community in Western Australia has long been deeply rooted in the local area, making important contributions to the economic and social development of Western Australia, the prosperity of multiculturalism, and the promotion of Chinese culture. Fu highlighted the vast prospects for future cooperation between China and Western Australia, encouraged the compatriots in WA to play a more active role in deepening exchanges and cooperation, as well as fostering people-to-people understanding between China and WA.

Pastorelli and other attendees highly praised the significant contributions of the Chinese communities to Western Australia's development, and emphasized that people of all ethnic groups from different cultural backgrounds deserve the right to preserve their own cultural traditions, while also making positive contributions to the development of multiculturalism of WA.
