Since 2023, Paz Moran has been a standout for the Baruch College women's cross country team.
Congratulations to Paz Moran ('26) of the Baruch College women's cross country who was named The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) 2025-26 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Moran, a three-time CUNYAC Individual Cross Country Champion, ran for three years on the Bearcat's cross country team, setting two school records and consistently finishing top 10 in local and regional races.
Off the running path, Moran is an exemplary student holding a 3.943 GPA, was named Provost Honors Scholar, and has made the Dean's List six times. She is also a three-time CUNYAC semester scholar-athlete.
Last summer, she completed an internship with Morocco World News and currently works as an assistant New York City correspondent for ProSieben German News Station.
"On a personal level, this award is so meaningful because it recognizes everything I have accomplished during my collegiate years," said Moran who is double majoring in international communication and political science and minoring in theater.
"At Baruch, my focus was about quality over quantity. Both my coaches and parents emphasized that if work was not done correctly the first time, I needed to do it again. Their encouragement helped me get through training and studying no matter how difficult it might have been."
Fluent in English and Spanish, Moran was born and raised in Connecticut to parents from Argentina. She long dreamed of attending college in New York City-and now appears in CUNY advertisements across the tri-state area for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
"Being able to live in Manhattan is the polar opposite of Connecticut," Moran states. "It provides so many opportunities to pursue everything I love, from sports and acting to building a successful career."
At Baruch, she was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and served as the group's vice president of events in 2023-24. Other prominent campus roles included news anchor, staff writer and multimedia editor at the student newspaper, The Ticker, a senator in the Undergraduate Student Government, a CUNY delegate for Model United Nations, and work at UNICEF@Baruch.
Moran also established a strong presence on stage, performing in Baruch plays and musicals in both lead and supporting roles, including starring as Nora in A Doll's House last fall and appearing this semester in Hair: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical.
She plans to pursue a career in news media as a producer or journalist, building on the many hands-on opportunities she pursued through Baruch's student organizations.
"I love public speaking and being in front of the camera," Moran said. "I want to be a storyteller and inform the public of what is happening locally, regionally, and nationally. I will continue to work hard to fulfill all my dreams."
