Max Noah Singers tours middle Georgia

GCSU's Max Noah Singers will go on their annual tour Dec. 15 through 16. They will perform at Walker United Methodist Church in Greensboro on Monday and finish in Milledgeville on Tuesday. During the days, they will visit high schools, such as Peach County and Crawford County, to recruit and exchange performances. The trip culminates with a homecoming concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16, at First Presbyterian Church in Milledgeville.

Five sets of songs, connected by poetry readings, include settings of traditional carols, Latin motets, and original compositions about the season. Audiences will be treated with holiday favorites like "Angels We Have Heard on High" and "Oh, Christmas Tree." In addition to works celebrating the Christmas season, Max Noah Singers will also perform a Hanukkah song in Yiddish and a Kwanzaa song in Swahili. Most of the concert is a cappella, however audiences will be treated to a bottle band and kazoo ensemble, as well as djembe. The concert will close with Palestrina's "Adoramus Te," the Georgia College Alma Mater, and "Silent Night."

A $5 donation is encouraged. All proceeds benefit music scholarships or the GC Department of Music through GCSU Foundation, Inc. For more information, please email [email protected] or call 478-445-8289.
