The City of Beavercreek has entered into a new 16-month contract for its electric aggregation program, aimed at helping residents and small business owners reduce electricity costs. Beginning with the September 2025 billing cycle, energy will be supplied by Constellation, replacing the current provider, Dynegy. This new contract will remain in effect through December 2026.
Under the new agreement, the standard fixed rate will be 8.699 cents per kWh, with an option for an Enhanced Renewable Energy Credit (REC) product-sourced from wind and solar-for 9.021 cents per kWh.
Currently, participants in the city's electric aggregation program are paying 6.928 cents per kWh through Dynegy. That rate will remain in effect until August 2025. Although the city explored the possibility of renewing with Dynegy, their pricing was not competitive enough.
What to Expect Next
In mid-to-late June 2025, city residents and small business owners - those already enrolled in the program or not under contract with another supplier - will receive a letter with the opportunity to opt out of the program. No action is required to stay enrolled. There is no enrollment, switching, or early termination fees associated with Beavercreek's aggregation program. Participants may opt in or out at any time without penalty. However, if residents are currently under a separate electric contract not associated with the city's aggregation program, they should check with their provider to see if any cancellation fees apply before making a switch.
About the Aggregation Program
Beavercreek's electric aggregation program was established in November 2003, when voters approved a measure allowing the city to negotiate group electricity rates. This program leverages the collective buying power of residents and small businesses to secure competitively priced electricity from certified retail electric suppliers. Before each contract cycle ends, the city solicits competitive bids to select the best supplier for the next term.
Participation is voluntary. Residents may choose to contract with a third-party energy supplier instead. For a list of available options, visit the Ohio Energy Choice website. To find out your current energy supplier, check the back of your latest electric bill under the "supply charges" section.
For questions, contact Energy Alliances, the city's energy consultant, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at (513) 794-5555 or (800) 735-0359. Constellation is also developing a webpage specifically for Beavercreek residents, which will include contact details and other helpful information. The city will share the webpage with the community once it becomes available.
Natural Gas Aggregation Update
In a separate vote on November 2, 2003, residents also approved the creation of a natural gas aggregation program. While the city received PUCO certification for gas aggregation, it has not implemented the program due to current market pricing.
The City of Beavercreek and Energy Alliances continue to monitor gas prices and may revisit the program if cost-saving opportunities arise in the future.
