WASHINGTON, DC - Today, Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (D-MI-03) announced $13,328,563 for a variety of medical research projects and investments in community health care infrastructure across West Michigan. The funding is through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
"West Michigan is home to some of the nation's leading health care and research facilities, and it is crucial that we continue to support them," said Congresswoman Scholten. "These investments will strengthen our community health centers, advance research into neurological disorders and cancer prevention, expand mental and behavioral health training, and much more. Federal investments like these are exactly how the government should be showing up for our communities."

This funding will support the organization's general health care services.

This funding will support the center's general health care services.

This funding will support the center's general health care services.

This funding will support the center's general health care services.
$732,380 - Corewell Health
This funding will specifically support initiatives aimed at improving maternal, paternal and infant health.
$528,000 - Van Andel Institute, Biomedical Research
This funding will specifically support research into molecular science.
$525,743 - Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services
This funding will support mental and behavioral health education and training.
$475,000 - Van Andel Institute, Extramural Research Programs
This funding will specifically support research into neurosciences and neurological disorders.
$374,960 - Trinity Health Grand Rapids Hospital
This funding will specifically support primary health care services for people living with HIV.
$31,000 - Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi
This funding will specifically support diabetes prevention and treatment.
$20,000 - Van Andel Institute, Child Health and Human Development Extramural Research
This funding will specifically support the institute's 2026 Midwest Zebrafish Meeting.
$3,000 - Van Andel Institute, Cancer Cause and Prevention Research
This funding will specifically support research into tumor therapy.
This funding reflects Rep. Scholten's ongoing commitment to bringing federal investment back to Michigan's Third Congressional District. These investments will keep West Michigan at the forefront of medical research and accessible community health care.
