March 17, 2026: Rebecca Grossman’s Murder Convictions Upheld on Appeal

LOS ANGELES - A California appellate court upheld Rebecca Grossman's double murder convictions for a hit-and-run that killed brothers Mark and Jacob Iskander, ages 11 and 8, who were crossing a marked crosswalk with their parents in a residential neighborhood in Westlake Village in 2020.

"Rebecca Grossman was rightfully convicted by a jury of her peers for the callous murder of two children when she chose to drive up to 81 mph on a residential street after drinking at a bar, knowing full well that this could have deadly results," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. "The legal standard is clear: Driving at excessive speeds through a pedestrian crosswalk after consuming alcohol absolutely demonstrates the requisite state of mind for second-degree murder. The outcome of this case shows that the law applies to everyone, and money or connections offer no immunity from accountability."

On February 23, 2024, a jury found Grossman guilty of two felony counts of murder, two felony counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, and one felony count of hit-and-run driving resulting in death. She was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Grossman filed an appeal in June 2024. Today, a three-judge panel of California's Second Appellate District upheld her conviction. Grossman is currently serving her sentence in state prison.
