Secretary Schwab Announces Kansas Public Disclosure Commission Appointee

TOPEKA - Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab today announced the appointment of Mark McDermed to serve as his appointee on the Kansas Public Disclosure Commission. Under state law, the Secretary of State appoints one member to the Commission, which oversees campaign finance, lobbying, and financial disclosure compliance in Kansas.

McDermed succeeds Beau Jackson, whose term began in 2024 and concluded on January 31.

"I am thankful for Beau's time and dedicated service on the Commission," Schwab said.

McDermed is an associate attorney at Stinson LLP in Kansas City, MO, where he practices in the firm's Real Estate and Public Finance Division. A native of Atchison, KS, McDermed graduated from Maur Hill-Mount Academy in 2014 before earning dual degrees in Finance and Political Science from Kansas State University in 2019. He later received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2022.

"I am grateful that Mark is willing to serve in this important role," Schwab said. "I am confident he will be a thoughtful and principled voice on the Commission."

McDermed resides in Lenexa with his wife, Delaney, and their son, James.
