HACU statement on motion to intervene in Eastern District of Tennessee federal lawsuit

SAN ANTONIO - The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has issued a statement on the court decision to allow HACU and LatinoJustice PRLDEF motion to intervene in Tennessee and Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) v. U.S. Department of Education, a federal lawsuit in the Eastern District of Tennessee that seeks to dismantle the Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.

"This decision ensures that Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and the students they serve have a voice in defending the constitutionality of programs that expand educational opportunity," said John Moder, HACU Interim Chief Executive Officer. "We will continue standing up for all students who benefit from these colleges and universities that strengthen our communities and America's workforce."
