With no federal budget agreement in place, the federal government shutdown began at midnight October 1. The City of Alexandria is prepared to support residents, workers, and businesses who may be affected by the current government shutdown.
Alexandria is home to thousands of federal employees, servicemembers, contractors, and others who rely on federally funded programs and services. We know that federal government shutdowns - particularly those that last a long time - can create disruptions for families and businesses. The City's priority is to minimize the local impact and connect residents to support where needed.
