Big South Fork’s Brewster Bridge Road to Temporarily Close for Repair

Date:
June 24, 2026
Contact: Park Headquarters, (423) 569-9778

Brewster Bridge Road in Big South Fork National River & Recreation Area will temporarily close for repair and re-pavement beginning on Monday, June 29th. The road was heavily damaged from significant rain events in 2022 and 2023. The National Park Service will perform this work in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Brewster Bridge Road is near Rugby, Tennessee and accesses the park's Brewster Bridge Day Use Area, and river access. The area boat launch and day use area will be inaccessible during the construction project. In the interest of safety, visitors are asked to avoid the area until work is complete. This project is scheduled to be completed by late summer. The park will use social media to keep the public updated on the project.
