The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) is sharing that real-time information for ferries, including live boat locations and departure predictions, is available now in the MBTA Go app, and other digital tools.
Riders will be able to track their boats and plan their trips accordingly.
Now with the addition of ferry, all fixed-route MBTA modes of transit (subway, bus, Commuter Rail, ferry) have available live-tracking options.
"Real time travel information is something that the public relies on to make informed decisions and to make public transportation easier to use. The MBTA Go app that we launched in 2024 is my go-to, and now ferry riders can use it too," said Interim Secretary and MBTA General Manager Phillip Eng. "I want to thank the MBTA's Transformation & Technology and ferry operations teams for this upgrade that will serve many riders and connect water transportation to our other modes. It's our hope that with more clear communication our riders will have less stress in their busy day as they plan their journeys on land or on the water."
Launched in November 2024, MBTA Go is the MBTA's mobile app for live information about service. Riders can now use the app to view more information on ferry service, including:
MBTA Go is available for both iOS and Android phones. Riders can download the latest version in their phone's app store.
While MBTA Go is the primary way to view latest ferry information, the MBTA provides riders with two additional ways-online at MBTA.com and at digital signs near Aquarium station on the Blue Line.
To view this information on MBTA.com, go to MBTA.com/ferry. Select a route and click "Schedules & Maps" tab, then select a direction and origin stop to view upcoming trips and their predictions.
Riders can learn more about ferry service and plan their next ferry trip at MBTA.com/ferry.
