Sleigh bells and suitcases: TPA set to welcome 1.4 million travelers over winter holidays

The holidays are in full swing, and Tampa International Airport is ready to spread some cheer - and welcome a lot of travelers! About 1.4 million passengers are expected to pass through TPA between December 18 and January 5 during the 2025 winter holiday travel season.

That's a whole lot of suitcases, Santa hats, and carry-ons! The Airport expects 75,000-80,000 passengers a day leading up to Christmas and New Year's, with the busiest travel day landing on Friday, December 26, when nearly 82,000 travelers will take to the skies.

All that holiday hustle means extra traffic, fewer open parking spots, and longer lines at ticket counters and TSA checkpoints - but don't worry! TPA has plenty of ways to make your journey merry and bright.

CHOOSE EXPRESS

Flying with just a carry-on? Skip the crowds and head straight for the Blue or new Red Express Curbsides. These lanes are perfect for travelers who don't need to stop at Ticketing or Baggage Claim. Follow the "Express" signs for a smooth drop-off or pick-up. It's the quickest way to dash through the terminal!

PLAN AHEAD FOR PARKING

Parking at TPA can fill up fast during the holidays, so plan ahead! Book your spot onlinefor discounted rates and guaranteed space in the Short Term, Long Term, or Economy garages. Online reservations help you and the Airport stay one step ahead, giving you the gift of peace of mind.

AVOID CIRCLING

Don't be that driver looping around the terminal! Instead, head to TPA's Cell Phone Waiting Lot, which is free, has restrooms, Wi-Fi, and flight info boards. Relax until your traveler is ready, then zip over to the curb for a quick pickup. Easy, breezy, and traffic-free!

ARRIVE EARLY

TPA is famous for its easy layout, but holiday crowds can slow things down. Families, first-time flyers, and travelers with extra luggage all take a little longer, so arrive two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international trips.
