Kingsburg, CA - In case you missed it, U.S. Senator Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, toured a peach farm in Fresno County and met with representatives from the California Canning Peach Association.
During the tour, Schiff highlighted his work alongside Representatives Mike Thompson (D-Calif.-04) and David Valadao (R-Calif.-22) to secure $9 million in USDA funding to support a clingstone peach tree removal program for California farmers. This assistance from USDA will support affected growers in pulling trees and transitioning to new crops.
Additionally, Schiff discussed his priorities for the upcoming Farm Bill and his plans to push for a bill that restores and strengthens nutrition programs, empowers California's specialty crop producers, supports research investments, and provides farmers with more opportunities.
