On August 12, 2026, Elmedin Konaković, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomed Julian Reilly, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, in Sarajevo for a farewell visit.
They discussed the current political situation ahead of the General Elections, and Bosnia and Herzegovina's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.
Minister Konaković highlighted the political blockades stemming from the leadership of Republika Srpska and the President of the SNSD, which are influenced by Russia and are hindering the country's progress on its European path. He specifically noted the negative consequences of delaying the implementation of the Growth Plan for the Western Balkans, resulting in Bosnia and Herzegovina's lack of access to the planned financial resources.
The Minister expressed his gratitude to Ambassador Reilly for his personal dedication and efforts to enhance relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom during his diplomatic tenure.
Ambassador Reilly thanked Minister Konaković for the open, meaningful, and professional cooperation throughout his mandate, emphasizing that the relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina will be remembered for its mutual respect and constructive dialogue.
At the conclusion of their meeting, Minister Konaković wished Ambassador Reilly success and happiness in his future diplomatic and professional endeavours, expressing hope that the friendly relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United Kingdom will continue developing and strengthening in the future.
