Columbia, Mo.,-Makayla McCurdy, a senior at Van-Far R-I High School, has been chosen as a recipient of a $250 Missouri Pork Industry Scholarship from the Missouri Pork Association. Her selection was announced today at the Missouri Pork Expo in Osage Beach.
Makayla is the daughter of Charles and Jill McCurdy from Wellsville. She currently works as a kennel attendant at a local veterinary clinic. She also raises show pigs as part of her FFA Supervised Agriculture Experience project. Makayla has participated in the Missouri Youth Show Pig Circuit and serves on its Junior Board. She is the current FFA Chapter president and participates in the FFA Trap Shooting Team, 4-H President, and is a member of the Northeast District FFA Expo Junior Board.
After graduation, Makayla plans to attend Northwest Missouri State University where she will major in animal science pre-vet.
