High‐Speed Pursuit, Crash into Police Cruiser, Unlawful Possession of Loaded Glock, Yield a 28-Month Sentence for D.C. Felon

WASHINGTON - Trevon Troxler, 31, a previously convicted felon residing in the District, was sentenced today in U.S. District Court to 28 months incarceration in connection with a high-speed flight from law enforcement that resulted in a collision with a federal police cruiser and the recovery of a loaded Glock 29 pistol, announced U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

Troxler pleaded guilty on May 13, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon, and to destruction of federal property. In addition to the 28-month prison term, Judge Berman Jackson ordered Troxler to serve three years of supervised release. Federal prosecutors had requested a 33-month prison term.

According to court documents, on Oct. 12, 2025, about 8:20 p.m., Troxler fled from law enforcement after officers attempted to stop the white Honda Accord he was driving in the 3500 block of Ames Street NE. Troxler led MPD officers and a Diplomatic Security Service agent through multiple sections of the city at high speed, striking a federal police cruiser and an uninvolved Hyundai. The collision with the Hyundai sent the car off the roadway and into a residence on the 1600 block of Eastern Avenue NE.

After the collision, Troxler continued to flee in the Honda, traveling northbound on I-295, where he swerved in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. As Troxler entered the ramp to Route 50, the Honda hit the federal police cruiser again. The Honda approached 33rd Place Northeast, and it struck a median in the roadway and stopped. Troxler opened the vehicle door, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot. Police quickly apprehended him at 2300 South Dakota Ave. NE.

Officers recovered a loaded firearm from the driver's side of Troxler's vehicle. The weapon was a Glock 29 equipped with a laser attachment and loaded with one round in the chamber and 26 rounds in a high-capacity magazine.

Troxler caused more than $4,000 in damage to the federal police cruiser, which was property of the United States.

Troxler has a previous conviction for unauthorized use of a vehicle and receiving stolen property, and another felony conviction for attempted assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm (crime of violence).

The investigation was conducted by the Metropolitan Police Department, the Diplomatic Security Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives - Washington Field Office.

The matter was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emory V. Cole of the Federal Major Crimes Section under the President's Make D.C. Safe and Beautiful Again initiative, which targets violent crime by prioritizing federal prosecution of armed repeat offenders and removing illegal firearms from District neighborhoods.
