Denver Selects Global Executive Search Firm to Lead DEN CEO Search

The City and County of Denver has selected Korn Ferry, one of the world's premier executive search firms, to conduct a global search for the next CEO of Denver International Airport (DEN).

Phil Washington announced in June that he would retire after 50 years of military and public service, including five years as DEN's CEO, where he led one of the busiest airports in the world and Colorado's primary economic engine.

Korn Ferry was selected for its proven track record of recruiting top aviation executives and will oversee a global search. A community advisory panel made up of community stakeholders and aviation experts has been assembled to support Korn Ferry throughout the selection process.

"DEN is one of our city's greatest assets and a powerful driver of economic opportunity for our city, state and the entire region," said Mayor Mike Johnston. "Selecting the right leader to guide the airport into its next chapter is one of the most important decisions we can make. I'm confident Korn Ferry will help us recruit a visionary CEO who will build on DEN's global reputation, support its continued growth, and ensure it remains a world-class airport for decades to come."

Mayor Mike Johnston will interview the finalists and expects to make a nomination before the end of the year. The Mayor's nominee to serve as DEN CEO will be subject to confirmation by the Denver City Council. Dave Laporte, who has more than 30 years of experience in the aviation industry and has been with DEN since 2012, will continue to serve as interim CEO during the search process.
