Menlo Park, Calif. - On May 27, 2026, at approximately 12:54 p.m., San Mateo County Sheriff's communications center issued a be-on-the-lookout for a vehicle connected to an assault with a deadly weapon incident. Menlo Park Officers were alerted that the suspect vehicle was in the area in Menlo Park. A short time later, officers spotted the vehicle speeding, and a pursuit began eastbound over the Dumbarton Bridge. The suspect was not apprehended.
During the response, one of our officers was involved in a collision with the center divider, west of the toll plaza. The impact caused the patrol vehicle to spin and make contact with an uninvolved vehicle. The uninvolved party did not sustain any injuries, and their vehicle had minor damage. The officer was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and is doing okay. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) took the collision report.
We are thankful that no members of the public were injured, and we remain focused on keeping our community safe.
