Lower Water Rate Increase Approved

In 2023, a five-year water rate study was approved, which included an annual rate increase of 6.5% to support long-term infrastructure needs and maintain high-quality water service. During the Special City Council meeting on July 1, 2025, the City Council approved a reduced rate increase for the fiscal year 2025/26, from 6.5% to 4%.

Why the Change?

Thanks to favorable weather conditions and improved water quality from the Delta, the City's water treatment costs were lower than expected. City staff closely monitors the financial health of the City's enterprise funds, and when cost savings are identified, we act on them. If you have questions about the water quality or the rate change, please contact our Public Works Department at (925)516-6000.
