Washington, D.C. - Congressman Brandon Gill (TX-26) today responds to the federal government funding lapse in fiscal appropriations caused by Senate Democrats' failure to pass the House's continuing resolution.
"Democrats created this crisis. Republicans did our job and passed bipartisan legislation to keep the government open, but Democrats are holding the government hostage by refusing to vote for the same continuing resolution they've voted for in the past," said Rep. Gill. "It's extremely hypocritical, and they're now demanding taxpayer funded handouts for illegal aliens-a nonstarter for my district. My office will remain open and committed to serving the 26th district during this time."
Congressman Gill's DC and Flower Mound offices remain open during regular business hours and continue to serve the people of Texas's 26th District.
Background:
On September 19, 2025, House Republicans passed a clean continuing resolution, sending the bill over to the Senate for consideration.
On March 17, 2025, the House and the Senate passed virtually the same continuing resolution on a bipartisan basis.
