NORAD, USNORTHCOM host talks to strengthen relationships with SHAPE, USEUCOM

PETERSON SPACE FORCE BASE, Colo. - The NORAD and U.S. Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) headquarters hosted staff talks with Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) and U.S. European Command (EUCOM) on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, to strengthen professional relationships, enhance information sharing, and identify opportunities for greater collaboration among the headquarters and forces.

Staff discussions focused on operational coordination, campaign integration, exercise planning, warfighting and crisis/contingency planning, strategic messaging alignment, and data-sharing efforts. Participants explored opportunities to refine recurring coordination processes, improve the operational interface between headquarters, support future operations, and advance collaboration in the Arctic and Atlantic regions.

The Arctic is characterized by multiple adjacent and overlapping command areas, driving the need for coordination and synchronization in response to the current threat environment. Discussions therefore emphasized Arctic integration and campaigning, including NORAD and USNORTHCOM's continued development of the Nordic Bridge concept, which supports closer coordination with SHAPE, EUCOM, and other key partners to improve domain awareness, enhance interoperability, and synchronize activities across the Arctic and North Atlantic. This emphasized how multiple commands can achieve greater effects by exercising their distinct missions and authorities alongside one another.

This visit reinforces the commitment of NORAD, USNORTHCOM, SHAPE, and EUCOM to continued engagement and closer cooperation. By expanding information exchange, deepening professional relationships, and aligning efforts across headquarters, future engagements will enable more effective campaigning, enhance operational readiness, and improved ability to respond together in support of North American and transatlantic security objectives.
